All because 2 people fell in love...

Is it weird to start off a blog with a story? Oh well, we did it. Now we can indroduce our story. That's right, the Seth and Carrie story.

Mini bios....
Seth was born and raised in Torrance, CA. He grew up body boarding and hanging out at the beach. He served a mission in Adelaide Australia with most of his time spent in the outback with Aborigine. He loved it so much and I had never been to Australia so that's where we went on our honeymoon- backpacked throughout Aus for 2 months. Unforgettable. Anywho...Seth went to school and studied art and graphic design and was happily chillin out and relaxin all cool in the south bay area of LA until he turned 31 and felt like it was time to get out of LA for a break. He wanted to work at a ski resort for a season and snowboard to his hearts content. That's where the meet cute happened :)

I was raised in Orange County, CA till I was 12 and then moved all over the country with the fam for dad's work. Lived on the east coast, the south, the midwest, the rockies, you name it. Girl got around. Went to BYU-ID and BYU-HI till I got my bachelor in Biology and served a mission in the Utah Ogden mission. After college grad in Dec 06 I wanted to have some fun and work at a ski resort for the winter mainly so I'd have a job right away instead of wandering around aimlessly. I had also just learned how to ski and wanted to get a little better at it. After the winter, I took a job in Alaska with a great tour company and I was instantly hooked to world traveling and seasonal work. It was that 3rd winter (now as a ski instructor) where I met Seth. I had moved up to Grand Targhee Resort in the tetons because the environment there was better than the hustle and bustle of Park City resorts.

Seth had applied to several ski resorts from Colorado to Montana and Grand Targhee was one of them. He had been there before while visiting a friend at BYU-I. He, his family and friends couldn't believe that he had picked such a small resort in the middle of nowhere to go to out of all the big resorts he had applied to, but he knew thats where he needed to go. Now we know why.

When that winter season started, I was dating someone and had my 'blinders' on so to speak. I knew there was a guy in the ward working at the resort and we chatted here and there, but my blinders didn't let me pay much more attention than that and Seth had been interested in me, but my having a boyfriend had deterred him from doing anything. It wasn't until the resort had to close for a day due to a water problem on February 4th (shortly after I became single again) that anything happened. We were both at a mutual friend's house hanging out that day and towards the afternoon Seth had the idea of going to town to see a movie. The theater is about 45 minutes away from Driggs so it was going to be an all evening trip. I was the only one who wanted to go so it ended up being just the 2 of us. A default first date. We were inseperable after that. We went out I think 3 times that week and were a couple by a few days after Valentine's day.

As the winter was coming to an end, I was going back to Alaska and Seth wasn't sure what he was doing with his life. We knew we needed to be together and I was going to Alaska because there just isn't any work to be found in Teton Valley, the economy is bad there right now. So Seth came to Alaska with me. We were engaged June 18th and married in the Los Angeles temple September 25th, 2 days after my 27th birthday. 3 days after that, we flew to Australia for a 2 month backpacking honeymoon. Stories from that will come later in our blog world I'm sure.

When we got back to the country, we immediately left for Idaho to start another winter at the resort. The winter was great, but as I get older and move on in life, working seasonal jobs is starting to turn from exciting adventure to just a job. Maybe I'm starting to take for granted the privileges that come with ski resort jobs and traveling jobs. Maybe priorities have just changed to things that requre you to be more permanent. Who knows? Regardless of why, Seth and I have decided to take a chance and get out of the seasonal life by moving to AZ and looking for more permanent work. Here goes nothin.

Sweet! Thx for the back story. I love your use of the phrase "meet cute". Total awesomeness. You're a good story teller.
