Year of the dragon

2012

Yes, the new year started more than a few weeks ago and I haven't posted any aspirations or goals for the year, but guess what one of those aspirations is for the year? Cut back on the inner dialogue of regrets and what if's. So I will not apologize for or attempt to explain the delay in posting. I'll just say here ya go. Take that, new year.

I love that its the year of the dragon on the Chinese calendar. Makes me feel a little extra motivated to accomplish things. Kind of have the feeling 'how could I fail at anything? I've got dragon in me this year.'

My 2012 will contain the following things (in no order of importance just order of thoughts):

1. Get my booty back in shape. I have this miracle weight in mind, but really I'm hoping to be more healthy and fit. Working at a computer all day and having such a snuggle worthy puppy and hubby, I find it hard to get off the couch when I do have the time to get active. I'm looking forward to the day I can fit into my 'skinny' jeans again. I've joined sparkpeople.com and its keeping me motivated- check it out if you're looking for the motivation to get in shape. It makes it almost like a game and makes me feel a little more accountable.
I would be happy to be in this kind of shape again! (circa 2008)

2. Find a direction in my life. I have a college degree that I don't use for anything but to fill in my 'education' section of my resume. I have a job that I'm good at and pays decently well, but is still entry level. I am intelligent and capable and not living up to my potential. Problem is, I still have no idea what field or specialty I want to apply that potential to. Must get around to that.

3. Finish the little home projects that got shoved to the side after we moved in. Things like finishing the baseboards, paint touch-ups, landscape the back patio, clear enough space to get both cars in the garage, install ceiling fans in the extra bedrooms, yada yada yada. I'm learning that its very true when you own a home the list will never end. I LOVE owning our home though so every bit of it is worth it.

4. Build our savings back up again. Also a result of the house. Our savings went from mountain to mole hill really quick. I like finding ways to clip coupons and save so this goal should be a fun one. The account balance at the end of the month comes down to how many 'oh its just a couple bucks' we allow and putting in a little extra planning.

Aspire higher, baby.
