Seth really wanted to go to this concert and I saw the opportunity for an out of the ordinary date night so we recently went to a Bouncing Souls/ Bad Religion show. Who? Exactly my first response also. Evidently Bad Religion is a punk band thats on its 30th anniversary tour. All I remember from their music, I relent every once in a while and let Seth listen to it when we're both in the car, is that it has no melody and is really just a bunch of drum beats set to tune-less vocals.
Seth tried to 'condition' me before the concert and had me listen to hours of this stuff. My bunch of drum beats theory stuck until we saw them at the show. I actually ended up liking them and am considering adding some to my itunes. I know. The things marriage brings you to :) The venue was really cool- a gutted old single screen movie theater in Tempe.
I even got in the mosh pit just like this one. Seriously. We had been standing at the edge of it all night and I finally wound up the nerve to do it after seeing Seth do it a couple times.
As soon as I got all pumped and jumped into it, the music slowed down and I found myself to be the only one flailing around shoving into people. Took me a moment to realize it and I had nothing left but my cheesy high school running man as I made my way back to the spot I had come from and found Seth just smiling at me. Hey, atleast I get to check 'survive a mosh pit' off of life's to do list.
Date night for the history books. I give it an A+

Isn't it something that you can listen to a band for hours and not really dig 'em but the concert turns the initial opinion around. I guess music is as much about the experience as the melody. :)
Sounds like an epic date night!
