Holiday time of year...

Merry Christmas!
Seth and I are having our first holiday season as a married couple. Well, as regular married couple- seasonal workers/travelers have a hard time doing the traditional holiday celebrations. We had a 2 ft Christmas tree and a couple fedex boxes sent from home that we opened after working all day for Christmas last year. I haven't had a 'normal' Christmas since 2006 and here's what I've missed the most:

1. A full size Christmas tree. I love lighting it up and reading with the light from it- makes everything you read seem magical.

2. Wrapping paper. Sure some of the presents I've opened over the past few years have been wrapped but you're never sure if they are so you learn to just not open any package that comes through the mail until Christmas morning. So I guess a seasonal workers wrapping paper is shipping labels.

3. Christmas decorations. The wreaths, the little Christmas trees everywhere, the smelly goodness and stockings hanging. It makes everything feel so cozy and homey.

4. Family. Mind you this list is in no particular order. Its so wonderful to see family enjoy the holidays with you. Its great to catch up and be around them, but its also interesting to see how they enjoy the holidays. Even growing up the same home, its interesting to see what traditions were the the most important to them and what perspective they came away with. I'm the youngest of 5 kids in my family with a 10 yr spread between us so we have a 10 yr spread in perspective of family memories.

5. Christmas music on the radio. I've been in small town ID for the past few years where you're lucky to get any radio station to come through. Its strangely fun to hear people somewhere out there through the radio talk about Christmas and share the holiday coziness with the radio. Seems strange, but its something I didn't know I missed until I had it back.

More to come...time to go enjoy some of the day.
