We've been working on getting things done in the Ashcraft home lately. Seth is trucking his way through school and work. He is progressing and getting into a groove. He has a touch of ADD, or rather a slap in the face of ADD and being organized and focused is hard, but he's really coming into his own with it all. So proud of him.
My lovely job of helping people buy cruises has become comfortable for me now. I didn't like the sales aspect of it at all when I started (I'm a coupon hunter and get high on a good deal, but that's a whole other blog) so helping people buy expensive things didn't come naturally to me at first. I still don't like helping people spend the bucks, but I love that I talk about vacations all the time. Selling vacations is so much better than selling knives or insurance. I have numbers that I have as a goal each month and I love going after them. Its not just that it puts bucks in our bank, but I love the hunt. I love the conquest of it all :)
We have been saving a lot since we moved to AZ. We could have saved more, but we've saved a lot. We have been looking for a house here to make ourselves a home and try out this white picket fence, 2 car garage, 2.5 kid thing. It all seems so surreal that its me doing this, but I am really looking forward to having a HOME. A real home. One that I come back to and know where it is. A place where I actually paint the walls the color I want and unpack All my boxes. I haven't had ALL my belongings unpacked and with me since I was 17. Thats a LONG time. Even now we're staying with my parents while we find a house and half our belongings are in boxes in the garage and storage closet. Some of our wedding presents from a year and a half ago are still wrapped! (Don't worry, I know whats in them from the invoice they were shipped with.)
We have a house in the works right now. Its a short sale with a bank approved price. We're just waiting for the bank to work out the paper work with the seller to approve the short sale process then we'll set a closing date and get the inspection blah blah blah. If everything keeps up the way it is, we'll be in the place by the end of March. Its nerve racking and stressful to think about the cost of a house and the responsibility of it all, but its such a great price with the market now and we'll finally have a home of our own. That's the goal with the $ saving.
I've realized how important goals are and I miss having a lot of them going at the same time. I got into the habit the past few years of just letting things happen and 'going with the wind' as I thought of it. I've learned that getting inspiration from the wind (all my hippies out there know what I'm talking about) and all the life around me is what keeps me moving, but setting and chasing after goals is what brings success and happiness. Its all about the chase. What accomplishment is worth talking about if it wasn't earned?
